The felicitation ceremony of 15 winners of It’s Chandigarh’s Time Innovation Challenge at STPI Incubation Centre in Mohali on 26th February 2019.
The highlight of the event was the panel discussion on ‘Creation of an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Chandigarh Tricity.
Apart from Punjab Governor and UT administrator V P Singh Badnore, the panellists were Vijay Inder Singla, minister for IT and PWD, Punjab, Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder of Ola, Dr Omkar Rai, director-general, STPI,and Vini Mahajan, additional chief secretary, housing and development, Punjab.
The Innovation Challenge was part of TOI’s It’s Chandigarh’s Time initiative. The challenge discovered 15 best and brightest innovators from the Tricity who came forward and shared their ideas on a forum. It was an attempt to create an ecosystem that can make the Tricity one of India’s leading hubs for technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Motivating the innovators at the function, Badnore said, “We will create facilities for young entrepreneurs to attract them to invest and bring their innovations for startups here in the Tricity in a year.”
Singla said the Tricity has everything to promote entrepreneurship and the Punjab government is proactive in this regard. “The Punjab government is just an email away from a young budding startup entrepreneur to give all sorts of help and support to set up his venture in Punjab.”
Dr Omkar Rai said the STPI is building an ecosystem in the Tricity which incubates entrepreneurs to give their startups a shape.
